State of the Union???

Hahaha....I read this on overheardinminneapolis.com today and it made me smile so I thought I would share it :)

I Do This At Least Three Times A Week
Girl #1: State of the Union tonight! Are you gonna watch?!

Girl #2: Hell yes!

Guy: Boring.

Girl #2: What are you talking about? The State of the Union is awesome. I lost my virginity after the 2004 speech.

Girl #1: Drunk, angry liberals seeking solace in each other's arms... It's a beautiful time of year.

Caribou on Snelling and Grand
Overheard by I'm watching this year.

Brr Baby Brr...

Today is so freaking cold and so freaking windy!!! YUCK!!!
We left this morning to go to Monkey's 9 month appt and the wind was so strong it took my breath away. The temp was a balmy 3 above when we got to the doc. When we got home from that and grocery shopping 3 hours later, it was -3.
-3!!!!

Ok, so those of you that live here know that this is MN and so it gets this cold even if it was 45 above yesterday, but wtf?!?!

I hate living here sometimes. It's too freaking cold.

Oh, and apparently because of the windshield it actually feels like -20 to -30. I wish I knew what windshield really meant other than REALLY REALLY COLD!!!!!

Bah Humbug!

Safe and Sound...

I'm happy to report that Chad made it home safely from out west again this year. He and the guys had a great time and the snow was deep and powdery and good :)

Other than worrying about him being buried alive, the kids and I spent a very over-scheduled week together trying not to worry about him. We had a couple get togethers here at the house and that was a lot of fun. I'll post pics once I get my computer...

Thanks to Mom & Jim and Anna & Maddie for the hospitality...Thanks to Karen and the Mom's group for a wonderful Friday evening...Thanks to Dad and Mary for coming for dinner on Saturday and thanks to everyone else that came over or spent time with us so that we wouldn't be too lonely :)

Without being too cheesy, I just want to say that I feel so blessed that we have so many wonderful people in our lives.

We love you all :)

Friends...

Ms. Pipps had a slumber party last night and I thought it was going to be totally chaotic and I was going to be crabby today, but suprise!!!

She has really nice friends. I'm really proud of her. She got her grades pulled up and her room cleaned up so that she could have her slumber party. I keep telling her that if she keeps it up she can do stuff like this more often. Maybe after how much fun she had last night, that'll be enough motivation for her...

Let's hope so...

(Here are a couple photos of Pipps that I took Feb 10th. LOVE her new haircut!)

Have I mentioned...

That I LOVE this woman...here's a live video...no retouching, no dubbing, just pure unadulterated good ol' singing.

By the way, for those of you that don't know, it's Brandi Carlile

Here's another, just for good measure...

Hmmmm....

Thanks to Chris for this. I found this on his myspace page and thought I'd give it a whirl.
I don't know how accurate this is since I had a hard time picking one answer of the other in a few cases. I guess I'm not that black and white. Anyway, read into it what you will...I just thought it was kind of interesting...

Wine Vs. Water

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine... and those who don't.

To paraphrase Ben Franklin, "In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria."

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo (2.2 pounds) of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health.

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid than to drink water and be full of shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service.

McCain wins and McDonalds goes fancy?!?!?!

I was suprised by the primary election results today in New Hampshire. I don't know why really, but McCain??? I have heard so little from or about him so far that I guess it just suprised me. This election is going to be the most interesting in years...or at least all the hoopla that happens between now and then. Such a diverse group of candidates...

I also read on MSN today that McDonalds is going to start carrying Starbucks?!?!?! Can this be right? Because now you can get a 1200 calorie coffee drink to go along with your 2000 calorie super sized lunch? Because we're not inundated with all this crap enough???

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my coffee and on occassion I have been known to grab a McMeal because, let's face it, it's cheap, easy and the kids hero-worship you for a couple days.
But c'mon...

Am I old if I say "What's happening to the world these days???"

Ok, it's true...I'm getting old.

30 is coming up this year. I've finally come to terms that perhaps I am aging and perhaps I'm not as fun and as cool as I used to be. (Meghan, stop laughing! I WAS cool!!!)

Bah...I'm old...whatever...There's just no good way to end this hole of a post I've dug, so I'll just say

GOOD DAY!!!

I SAID GOOD DAY!!!

Link for photos

Ok, so I still haven't been able to upload/download/load load pictures, but my darling Dad sent me a link to pics from Little Christmas Eve, so here it is....

Hopefully that works :)

Tile and Stain and Carpet, OH MY!!!

My computer still doesn't work, so I haven't been taking pictures because I have like 300 on my camera and I'm already dreading that when the time comes...YUCK!

So...another photo free blog entry for today. Sorry.

The house is coming along. Jim started tiling the shower this week. It's pretty neat. Mosaic tile is apparently a total pain in the ass however, so beware.

Luckily we're not using "too much" of it. Jim might disagree with that statement, but I bet he's glad we're not putting it anywhere else other than the panel on the wall and the shower floor.

Later today we're headed to Lowe's. We have to buy stain, paint and pick out carpet. I'm pretty excited about that :) Except for the stain. We don't really agree on that, but I have to pick my battles and so I'll compromise on stain as long as I get my blue and red paint :)

Anyway, that's about it for today. I went to a little gathering last night with my PLM group that was kind of fun. Just 4 of us over at Caras for the evening. Ate a bunch of food and talked and hung out. It was nice to be able to do that....something a little different for a change.

I love my moms group. They're so great. I would go nuts without them for sure.

Ok, that's all I've got for today. I'll update again when something interesting happens...ha!

Happy New Year!!!

Ok, so I realize that this post is slightly late and I will still be without any photographs since my computer is still dead and I haven't gotten around to getting it fixed.

To my credit, I've been sick. Bobalu brought home a stomach bug and I got it...probably after I was cleaning his puke off his carpet, walls, the bathroom, etc....you get the picture.

New Years was good. My Mom and Jim offered to watch the kids so we could go out for dinner (my Mom had a gift card left over from last year that HAD to be used by 12.31, so...)

Anyway, we went to Figlio. Had a 5 o'clock reservation with the rest of the seniors in lovely Mpls and surrounding areas. The only good part of the experience was the people watching. The service was HORRIBLE and the food was DISGUSTING. What happened?!?!?! I used to LOVE going to this restaurant with my sister. That was a long time ago though....
We were really upset and left a note that we would NOT be back. Yuck.

We went to the movies after "dinner" and got an extra large popcorn since we were both still hungry after not eating our disgusting $100 dinner. The people in front of us gave us a gift card that they had money left on...how nice was that??? So we got $5.50 off our popcorn and cokes!
The whole "Pass It On" thing in practice.

Saw I Am Legend. It was pretty good, although there was a bit of 48 days later theme going on that I thought felt a little ripped-off.

Otherwise it was ok. I think the best part was going to a movie with my husband. And ADULT movie with my husband. WITHOUT the kids.

We really need to go out by ourselves more often. Our last date was in August. Ouch!

Today I have to sit around and wait for the inspector to come. I think it's our FINAL inspection, so I'm not too peeved about having to wait around all day. We're almost done with the house (I shouldn't say that)...what I mean is that we're almost done with our master suite.

Then we're taking a much needed break before we have to get going on the yard this spring. And maybe the downstairs, but that depends on if we have any money left, or if we get a nice return on our taxes this year. Hopefully with me not working outside the home anymore, we will. Last year we had to pay in. Yuck.

So the kids are doing great and we're all doing great. The New Year is filled with promise. Pipps is doing really well in school this year and has been involved in all kinds of activities. Bobalu is doing loads better this year now that he has a great teacher and is getting some help with his "super smart but not so patient with others brain". Monkey is getting bigger everyday. He's crawling and cruising and clapping now...the big "C" phase. *haha*

DH and I are doing great and plan on having another baby sometime this year. We'll see how that progresses. Call us crazy, but we're both just so excited to have a big family. 4 will be the limit for us though. We're not going "old-school" and trying for 13.

So that's what's in store for us this year. How about you? I would love to hear from everyone, let me know how you're doing. The holidays are always so crazy busy I feel like I just lose touch with everyone.

Love to everyone! Hope to hear from you soon!
